Fictional demonstration

Fieldwork is fictional. These are proposed observations, not completed studies or tested findings.

The assumption.

The visitor is unfamiliar with Fieldwork and needs to know whether their furniture can be repaired. This assumption would need confirmation for a real business.

The earlier direction.

LESS REPLACING. MORE REPAIRING.A new chapter
for old things.

We believe in thoughtful craft, meaningful objects and a more considered tomorrow.

FURNITURE REPAIR & RESTORATIONFICTIONAL DESIGN DEMONSTRATION

“A new chapter for old things” is evocative. The supporting line stays abstract: thoughtful craft, meaningful objects, a considered tomorrow. It leaves the service unnamed.

The proposed change.

I would keep the continuity idea but add “Furniture repair, clearly explained” immediately beneath it. Then make the action “See what we can repair.”

What we gain—and give up.

The revised opening gives the reader a quicker route to identifying the service. It loses some ambiguity and romance. That is a tradeoff, not a universal improvement. A heritage studio with a familiar audience may choose a different balance.

How to check the idea.

Show each direction separately to people representative of the intended audience. Ask what the business does and where the action will take them. Record their answers before explaining the intended meaning. No such testing has been conducted here.

The principle.

Let the headline express the point of view. Let the supporting line answer the first practical question.
